Oskars Zivtiņš, Chairman of the Board of the Latvian Association of Consulting Engineers (LIKA), represented the association at the FIDIC 2026 General Assembly Meeting (GAM), held on 13 September 2026.
The General Assembly opened with participant registration, confirmation of the quorum, and opening remarks by FIDIC President Alfredo Ingletti. The Assembly subsequently approved the minutes of the FIDIC General Assembly Meetings held in September 2025 and May 2026.
FIDIC Chief Executive Officer Susanna Zamatoro presented an overview of the organisation’s activities in 2025 and 2026, including FIDIC’s results for 2025 and its priorities and ongoing work for 2026. Particular attention was given to the reform of FIDIC’s governance system, launched in 2025 and scheduled for completion by September 2027.
The Assembly also reviewed the auditor’s report and approved FIDIC’s 2025 financial statements. In addition, the draft FIDIC budget for 2027 was presented to the members.
The General Assembly approved the admission of two national associations as new FIDIC member associations: the Syndicate of Engineers of Syria and the Association of Consulting Engineers of Timor-Leste (ACEATIL).
The venue for the 2027 FIDIC General Assembly was also announced. The event will be held in Rome from 3 to 7 October 2027.
The General Assembly endorsed Adam Białaczkowski as the next FIDIC President. His term of office will commence following the 2027 General Assembly.
The Assembly also warmly recognised former FIDIC President Katerina Karatkasanis, whose term on the FIDIC Board concludes this autumn, with applause in appreciation of her contribution to FIDIC.
At the conclusion of the General Assembly, representatives of the newly admitted member organisations expressed their gratitude for being welcomed into FIDIC and invited their colleagues to share their experience and knowledge.
LIKA – FIDIC Member Since 2004
LIKA has been a FIDIC member since 2004. Since joining the federation, the association has served as a link between FIDIC and consulting engineers in Latvia, supporting the professional development and international competitiveness of Latvian consulting engineers.
LIKA has published five FIDIC standard contract books in Latvian, which are available for purchase through the LIKA website. The association also provides professional guidance and advice on the correct application of FIDIC standard contract forms.
The Latvian Association of Consulting Engineers had the honour of hosting in Riga representatives of the Board of the European Federation of Engineering Consultancy Associations (EFCA), as well as colleagues from the Estonian Association of Architectural and Consulting Engineering Companies and the Lithuanian Association of Engineering Consulting Companies. The meeting took place on 4 March 2026.
